Women’s waterproof hiking jacket, MH500 - Orange &

Developed for regular mountain excursions, this women’s jacket with a 20,000 mm Schmerber’s rating protects you from persistent rain.

How waterproof is it?

Reliable protection with its 20,000 mm H2O Schmerbers-rated waterproofing! This jacket uses an effective three-layer membrane, watertight seams and protected zips to create a solid barrier against poor weather. You stay dry, even in prolonged periods of rain.

A highly breathable jacket

The challenge with waterproof jackets? Keeping water out while wicking away inner moisture! This jacket solves this complex equation thanks to its highly breathable fabric (RET=6) combined with large side openings. Score: maximum wicking away of perspiration for optimal comfort.

Any other things to say about the cut?

Fitted cut with 13% elastane and raglan sleeves extending up to the neckline for added stretch. A design that frees up your movements while hiking. Possible layering with a lightweight fleece jacket or down jacket. Tip: usual size fitted, or larger for more volume.

The extra feature on the hood

The adjoining hood is adjustable in height and depth thanks to an elastic drawcord. Stiff visor for maximum face protection. The small detail that makes the difference: a triangular opening on the side for better peripheral visibility.

What are Schmerbers?

The Schmerber’s index evaluates the waterproofing capacity of a fabric facing water pressure: the higher the value climbs, the more waterproof it is! At 20,000 mm H2O, this jacket supports the equivalent of a 20-metre column of water. What does this actually mean? You maintain total peace of mind, even in prolonged periods of rain.

Why a three-layer fabric?

The three-layer construction incorporates an ultra-thin polyurethane lining between the inner and outer layers. Protected by a knit, it guarantees optimal waterproofing and breathability while being more flexible and lighter than a classic coating.

What is a RET index?

The RET index is an indication of a fabric’s capacity to naturally wick away your perspiration towards the outside. The golden rule? The lower the number, the better the performance! Our RET=6 places this jacket at the top of the scale: <6 = extremely breathable, <12 = highly breathable, <20 = breathable, >20 = not very breathable.

How do you maintain water-repellency?

Water-repellency allows water to slide off a fabric without being absorbed. This outer treatment changes with wear, but can easily be reactivated. To do this, put the jacket in a tumble drier set to a low temperature for 10 minutes, or use our re-waterproofing spray (ref. 8938490).

Any additional recommended products to go with this one?

The MH500 overtrousers are the perfect complement to this jacket, offering full protection. Together they form a formidable waterproof duo that keeps you completely dry during your mountain hikes, even in the most persistent and unpredictable downpours.
